Welcome to the Georgia Chapter of American Veterans for Equal Rights (AVER). One of our goals is to use this web site to communicate AVER Georgia's activities and keep our members and supporters informed of upcoming events and legislations pertaining to our U.S. Veteran community. We encourage you to visit often.
AVER Georgia is part of a larger organization called American Veterans for Equal Rights, formerly known as Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Veterans of America (GLBVA).
We are a national registered 501(c)(3) fully tax deductible non-profit organization of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender veteran service members challenging the Department of Defense policy of discrimination with regard to sexual orientation (Don't Ask Don't Tell). Membership in AVER is open to all veterans who support the goals of the organization and does not imply the sexual orientation of any of its members. All membership information is strictly confidential. In addition to challenging the policy, AVER Georgia works to increase the visibility of GLBT people within the community of all military veterans and serves as a resource for information concerning GLBT veterans.
AVER serves as a support for both active duty and veteran GLBT service members, and as an organized outlet for members to enjoy the unique camaraderie experienced by military veterans. As a reminder, computer on-line services, including web sites and workplace email are not confidential. Using work computers for personal use is against most base policies and, in general, is a bad idea.
We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your service to our country.
Sincerely,
Alejandro Lopez (Alex)
