Welcome to the new web site of the Georgia Chapter of American Veterans for Equal Rights (AVER). We hope to use this web site to communicate AVER Georgia's activities and keep members informed of upcoming events. I encourage you to visit this site often to see what we're up to, and I invite all members of Georgia's LGBT veterans community to join AVER and become a voice in our effort to end discrimination by the Department of Defense and establish the Armed Forces of the United States as both the guardian and representative of "liberty and justice for all".
Danny Ingram, President, AVER Georgia
American Veterans for Equal Rights (AVER) is a national registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender active duty, reserve and veteran service members challenging the DOD's policy of discrimination with regard to sexual orientation. Membership in AVER is open to all veterans who support the goals of the organization and does not imply the sexual orientation of any of its members. All membership information is strictly confidential. In addition to challenging the ban, AVER works to increase the visibility of LGBT people within the community of all military veterans and serves as a resource for information concerning LGBT veterans and the effects of the ban on our service. AVER serves as a support for both active duty and veteran LGBT service members, and as an organized outlet for members to enjoy the unique camaraderie experienced by military veterans. |
